Athletic Training
OAK orthopedics genuinely cares about the health care of the communities we serve. Our Athletic Trainers provide sports medicine to our area teams as one way to provide better health care to our athletes. All highly trained in caring for injured athletes, our sports medicine team is comprised of a:
- Team Physician
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
- Physical Therapist
The ATC is the one who, perhaps, has the closest relationship with the athlete as he/she works with the athlete from the time of injury, through the rehab process and until the athlete has met all requirements to return to play. They specialize in the health care of athletes and are very knowledgeable in various specialty areas. This allows them to effectively evaluate or refer the athlete to the proper physician specialty.
Sports Team Coverage
OAK provides athletic trainers at three different levels to schools. Gold or full-time coverage the athletic trainer is there every day, Silver or part-time the athletic trainer is there 2-3 times a week, and bronze the Athletic Trainer is there once a week. The level of coverage needed is determined by the school or organization. We provide sports medicine coverage for:
